Mesut Özil thanked Arsenal fans for standing by him following the Gunners 3-0 win over Aston Villa
Özil opened the scoring on 32 minutes, before creating another for Danny Welbeck just 79 seconds later.
The 25-year-old thanked Arsenal fans on his Instagram social media account.
"I appreciate the support from all my fans #afc #gunners #mesutözil #mesutozil," Özil said in a caption underneath an image of him celebrating scoring.
Özil admitted he was happy to have scored and provided an assist against Aston Villa via his Twitter account.
"Finally!79sec for a goal and 1 assist-really happy with it.let your #instincttakeover😀 #predatorinstinct #nevergiveup," Özil tweeted.
Özil had come under fire from sections of the British and German press following a dip in form over recent weeks.
However, Arsene Wenger has always backed Özil and recently stated that he would pay £42 million again for the 25-year-old.
“You expect the team to play well and not to put the responsibility on any one player to be a magician that does not exist any more in the modern game,” Wenger said.
“Remember, Ozil did not pay the £42million himself. I would pay the money again."
