Long pause for Alvaro Negredo
Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo will miss the start of the 2014/15 Premier League season, after suffering a fractured metatarsal bone
Negredo revealed news of the injury to his fifth metatarsal via his Instagram account, admitting the period on the sidelines will be "very hard".
The forward played 45 minutes in City's pre-season friendly victory over Hearts over, but did not confirm how he sustained the injury.
After struggling in the second half of the 2013/14 campaign, Negredo was heavily linked with a move back to La Liga, with the two giants Madrid supposedly interested.
Speaking this week on the club's television channel, the 28-year-old denied the rumors of a departure, saying: "I do not want to leave City. I'm very happy and very settled here.
"I had a difficult end to the season and that's why there has been a lot of talking but I've been very happy here from the first day I arrived."
Despite a disappointing end to last campaign, Negredo still managed 23 goals in his first season in England.
