Alonso: Bayern Munich was the right move

Spanish midfielder Xabi Alonso has said that the move to German champions Bayern Munich was the right move for him

The 33 year old moved to the Allianz Arena this summer having spent five successful years at Real Madrid where he won the Champions League last season.

This is what the former Liverpool midfielder said, “I came here to try something new, discover the Bundesliga and play for a very special club like Bayern. Now I can say it: it was a great move in my career,”

“Our legs and minds have been rested, and now we’re ready to face the decisive phase of the season.

“Like the rest of the team, I’ve worked very hard to be in my best possible condition and help the team in the best way possible.

“I want to be ready for the big games coming up in the second half of the season. [At Bayern], we all have high targets.

“When you’re in the midfield, you can’t stay on the ball for too long, so you must release it many, many times, preferably quickly.

“That’s what I always try to do, I’m the one who moves the ball from one side to another, from deffence to attack.

“My job is to keep the game flowing, controlling the tempo. It’s my character.”
